Would you die for me?
No, that's way too easy.
Would you live for me?

WHEN YOU SEE MONSTERS WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
SOME WANT TO STAND IN AWE OF THEM.
SOME WANT TO RUN AWAY FROM THEM.
SOME WANT TO SLAY THEM.
SOME WANT TO BECOME THEM.

Here's a list of readily available artists with tons of long form content. They've not only taught me technique, but also great work ethics and philosophy for the journey. It's not just about putting down the brush strokes perfectly. It's getting to your canvas with a proper mindset.

Sycra

I remember the first video I watched from him was about getting a tablet. The rest is history. He has a ton of videos about his journey, it’s amazing to walk through it. As he said, all of them were made for his yourger self. He also did a lot of interviews. The one with Artgerm is great. I’ve picked up so much things from him that I don’t even know from which videos they are; the values of practice and speed, not cherishing every drawing, getting those 100 bad drawings before the good one. No accidents, if you can do it once you can do it again.

I love watching this guy work. His brush strokes are just so smooth. He was a self taught hobbyist who’s known for powering though 6 months of work. That’s solid ethics and dedication. His videos about painting and thinking like a painter are great to tune in to. He just goes crazy with the paint overs sometimes.

Feng Zhu

Amazing teacher and motivator. He teaches a lot of ways to think around problems, insights on the industry, and great work ethics. Design Studio is very dense with information about a lot of subjects, it just makes you want to learn more. He places studying and fundamentals on top of all priorities. My favorite quote would be that anything you watch from other artists are like a stunt exhibitions: Years of experience behind them. You won’t get anything unless you start all the way from fundamentals.

Shaddy Safadi

That one video series where he teaches painting from reference, that’s a quotable one. He just riffs through it and hammers down one idea: It’s all hard work.

Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative
Just a great pick-me-up. Gather and organize everything. I’ve kept a lot of notes and folders around after reading this.

The War of Art: Break Through the Blocks and Win Your Inner Creative Battles
Recently reading this one. Good one for any struggling maker. It gives you a kick of motivation.

I’ll end this with a quote from The War of Art.

“The awakening artist must be ruthless, not only to herself but to others. Once you make your break, you can’t turn around for your buddy who catches their trouser leg on the barbed wire… The best and only thing that one artist can do for another is to serve as an example and inspiration.”
